ACM General Meeting- First Meeting
Hi everyone. Our first meeting of the semester is coming up and I just want to let everyone in on the details:
membership forms will be available for new and returning members. The cost is still $10 a person.
Pizza (wooo) will be provided and Mtn. Dew (credit: Alex W.), Pepsi, etc.
Some things we will cover:
- Introduction to ACM, what it is, why you should be a part of it.
- upcoming events:
1. Google (Sept. 24)
2. Microsoft tech talk (Oct. 8)
3. weekly donut break (starts sept. 16 at 9:30 - 10:00 AM)
3. career fairs (we will go over some resources you can use to prepare for it)
- Cool things we can or will do during the semester (ideas welcome) including, but not limited to:
1.game competition
2.programming competition (possibly against professors 0_o or against other universities)
3.guest speakers (i.e. Microsoft, Google, others possibly like Techsmith, Sircon, NASA, your CSE professors and their cool work, etc.)
4.travel to cool locations to do interesting things (we could go to Chicago to see Google there, go to ACM national conference, etc.)
5.plan joint events with MSU WIC or Spartasoft
6."updating the ACM website" project (unofficial name)
7.Weekly donut break
8.raising funds (breslin cleanup volunteers, sponsorship)
9.help with homework (possible, since we do have the same courses)
10. anything else you are interested in doing
-any other questions comments, etc.
